The Maui Farm honored to receive Bank of Hawaii Mike Lyons Maui Community Award

Mahalo to the Bank of Hawaii Foundation for naming The Maui Farm as one of three agencies honored with the 2013 Bank of Hawaii Mike Lyons Maui Community Award.  Selections were made based on exemplary fulfillment of our agency’s mission, and leadership demonstrated by our executive director and board.  We appreciate this acknowledgement by Bank of Hawaii and the Lyons family, and will gratefully use the $5,000 grant award to upgrade our aging computer network.

The Maui Farm Hosts Hui Hoaloha Luncheon Group

On March 27, 2012 The Maui Farm served as host for the monthly luncheon of the ladies group Hui Hoaloha.  Fifty-eight members from throughout Maui journeyed upcountry to The Maui Farm’s Makawao campus to learn about the nonprofit organization’s mission and programs.  Group members toured The Maui Farm’s two-acre farm while engaging in an educational scavenger hunt, and enjoyed a delicious healthy lunch buffet catered by Our Little Secret.  A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to hear from The Maui Farm’s residential program participants about how The Maui Farm is making a difference in their lives.

Hui Hoaloha is comprised of Maui women passionate about supporting our community causes.  Their monthly luncheons provide opportunities for Maui women to learn about our local non-profit organizations and inspire their support to strengthen our island community.  For more information contact Lois Reiswig at

Beyond The Rainbow Foundation Continues Its Support

The 6th annual Aloha Team Classic Golf Event, hosted by Beyond the Rainbow Foundation, was held October 17-20, 2011.  The Maui Farm is honored to have been a beneficiary of this event for the past five years, and to again be named as a recipient of a grant from the 2011 event.

We gratefully acknowledge the commitment of the Board of Directors of Beyond the Rainbow Foundation to support programs that enrich and nurture the youth of our community.  The Maui Farm is fortunate to have their support, and we send our aloha to the dedicated board, staff, volunteers and community supporters for another successful Aloha Team Classic.

Foodland’s “Take the Bag Challenge”

On April 12, 2011 Executive Director Paula Ambre was on hand at the Kahului Foodland store to support our friend Theresa “Tessy” Fernandez, winner of a $1,000 Shopping Spree in Foodland’s “Take the Bag Challenge”. As the Maui contest winner, Tessy was also able to name the nonprofit charity of her choice to receive a $1,000 grant from Foodland—and she named The Maui Farm! Warmest mahalos to Tessy for her incredible support. Tessy is a great teacher, and provides life skills training for our program participants about healthy nutrition, cooking and shopping.

McInerny Foundation Grant

We are pleased that McInerny Foundation continues its investment in the mission and programs of The Maui Farm. This April 2011 grant award provides partial support for staff salaries and benefits. The assistance of private foundation partners is critical to The Maui Farm as we respond to governmental funding reductions, and we acknowledge McInerny Foundation for their continued support.

Makana Aloha Foundation Donation

We extend our warmest mahalo to our new friends at Makana Aloha Foundation for visiting The Maui Farm, learning about our work, and offering support for our programs serving children, youth and families. Foundation Director JoRene Valkirs was introduced to The Maui Farm at a Hui Hoaloha Ladies Luncheon earlier this year.
