38th Annual Women’s “Na Holo Wahine” Run to Benefit The Maui Farm

4/2017

The Valley Isle Road Runners, Maui’s non-profit running club since 1970, will present the 38th Annual Woman’s 5K run “Na Holo Wahine” and 1-mile walk on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8:00 AM at Keopuolani Park in Wailuku.

This year’s event will benefit The Maui Farm, a local non-profit organization that empowers families and cultivates lives. “The Maui Farm is doing wonderful things for displaced families, providing an environment to learn and turn their lives around for the positive. To be able to help in some small way to support such a remarkable community organization is truly an honor,” said Jim Lynch, Vice President of Valley Isle Road Runners.

Categories this year include a 5K race, a 1-mile walk and a Mother-Daughter team option. Cost is between $15 and $35 depending on the category registered and there is a discount for Valley Isle Road Runners members.

“The Maui Farm cannot be successful in our work without the support of our community, and we greatly appreciate that Valley Isle Road Runners has chosen to partner with us on the Na Holo Wahine race,” said Executive Director Paula Ambre.  “Proceeds from this event will be used to support our Family Strengthening Program, providing transitional housing and life skills training for Maui families who have been displaced due to domestic violence and economic challenges, and offering support towards self-sufficiency.”

Food, refreshments, awards and prize giveaways donated from local Maui businesses will be available immediately after the race. For more information and to register, go to virr.com. You can also register for the race in person at the bib and shirt pickup on Friday May 5th from 3:00-6:00 PM at Request Music at 10 N Market Street in Wailuku.
